The next time you go to a BBQ party, make sure it’s clean.
In a rush of activities, some people do not clean the grill grates properly and that’s definitely not a wise thing to do. Depending on the grate-type, porcelain, cast-iron, or stainless steel, you should use the proper tools to clean them.
When it comes to cleaning the grates, the use of metal tools seems the obvious choice. Contrary to popular belief, these metal tools damage those grates instead of cleaning them properly. In fact, most of the grill grates get scraped or nicked due to these tools. Moreover, it is counterproductive for your efforts as well.
Clean them immediately!
Did you finish cooking? Then, just clean it. Use a nylon brush to clean away the food sticking to the grates and make sure you do it while it’s warm. Indeed, it helps you easily clean it away. Using a bristle free grill brush is absolutely necessary to clean it in a safe and proper manner.
Rinse the grates
You can use some soap (as little as possible) on the sponge to clean grill grates and rinse them off using warm water. While washing it off, ensure all the soapy water is drained out of it.
Dry and season the grates
Take a dry cloth to wipe clean the grates till it is completely dry. Next, you can consider olive oil or vegetable oil for seasoning the grates. You can season the grates using an oil-soaked clean cloth or a paper towel. Leave the grills warmed up for at least 10 minutes.
